What is a woody perfume?

A woody fragrance is built on materials that come from trees and roots: agarwood, sandalwood, cedar and vetiver, usually resting on a base of amber or musk. Those materials sit heavy and release slowly, which is why a woody scent lasts longer than a fresh one and why it grows rather than fades over the first hour. In oil form the effect is stronger still, because there is no alcohol to carry the scent off. That combination, warm materials in a concentrated oil, is the traditional shape of attar and the reason this family suits our range so well.

What the collection actually holds

Worth being straight about this: not everything here is literally wood. The collection is the warm family broadly, and it splits three ways.

• Oud and wood: Premium Oud, Precious Oud, White Oud Attar, Oud Raheeq, Jazral Oud and the aptly named Woody. These are the true centre of the page.
• Musk: five of them, Musk-Ul-Hind and Rose Musk among them. Musk is not a wood at all, but it is the base almost every one of these woods is built on, and it is the reason they hold as long as they do.
• Warm and spiced: Safa Marwa, Hateem, Al-Muaad, Aseel and Shamama, the herbal-spicy classic and the cheapest thing on the page.

Woody perfume price in Pakistan

Most of the collection is Rs.1,400 to Rs.3,000 for a 3 ml and Rs.4,500 to Rs.6,000 for a 12 ml, with the oud-led oils above that and Premium Oud at Rs.12,000 for the largest size. Shamama opens the range at Rs.1,306. Woody scents are the best value in fragrance generally, because the heavy base materials are what make a scent last, so you are paying for longevity rather than for a first impression that disappears.

When to wear a woody scent

Evenings, winter and formal occasions, as a rule. Warm materials expand in cool air and can become overwhelming in Lahore in June, so most people keep the heavier ouds for the cold months and shift to something fresher in summer. That said, the musks here are light enough for daily wear year round, and a single dab of an oud blend works in any season if you are restrained with it. One touch at the wrist and one at the neck is enough; woody oils are the easiest of all to over-apply.

How to order

Cash on delivery is available across Pakistan and orders usually arrive within four to five working days. The shop is at Bahria Orchard on Raiwind Road in Lahore, which with twenty-four oils on one page is by far the quickest way to narrow it down. Bottles still at least 95% full can be exchanged within 15 days, sale items excluded, and orders from outside Pakistan are arranged over WhatsApp. There is no delivery charge above Rs.3,999.
