What dahn ul oud actually means

Dahn ul oud translates roughly as the oil of oud, and it refers to pure distilled agarwood with nothing added. Not an attar blended around an oud note, not an oud accord, just the oil itself. Indian oud, written variously as oud e hindi, ood e hindi, oud al hindi or simply hindi oud, is the benchmark grade, because agarwood from the forests of north-east India produces a depth that other regions do not match. You will see the same oil listed as indian oud attar, hindi oud attar, oud hindi perfume, indian oud perfume or hindi oud oil, and none of those names tells you anything the bottle does not: what matters is the region it came from and how long it has been aged. It is also the oud with the strongest reputation among people who have been wearing it for decades.

The four we carry, and where they come from

Region matters more than almost anything else with Indian oud, so each of ours is kept separate rather than blended:

  • Fresh Distilled: recently distilled, bright and vivid, the most immediate of the four. Rs.30,000 for 3 ml.
  • Assam: the classic Indian profile, balanced between sweetness and animalic depth. Rs.40,000.
  • Nagaland: darker and denser, with more leather and resin in the base. Rs.45,000.
  • Manipur, wild, 100 years aged: our rarest oil and the most expensive thing we sell. Rs.65,000.

Oud hindi price in Pakistan

The oud hindi price in Pakistan reflects three things: the region, whether the wood was wild or plantation grown, and how long the oil has rested. The four grades above span that band for 3 ml, and each is also sold in 6 ml and 12 ml. Those are serious numbers and they should be, because pure Indian oud is one of the most expensive natural materials on earth, priced above gold by weight in some grades. If you find something advertised as oud hindi attar for a few thousand rupees, it is a blend or a synthetic. There is no version of this oil that is cheap.

Why aged oud costs more than fresh distilled

Freshly distilled oud is loud. It carries a sharp, sometimes barnyard opening that takes an hour to settle. Age fixes this. Left to rest in glass for years or decades, the harsh top notes mellow, the sweetness comes forward, and what is left is smoother and considerably more complex. That is the entire difference between our fresh distilled and our hundred-year Manipur oil: not quality of wood alone, but time that cannot be manufactured. Aged oud is also the reason serious collectors buy oud they do not intend to open, because a good oil keeps improving in the bottle.

How Hindi oud smells, and who it suits

Honest answer: it is not for everyone, and it is not meant to be. Indian oud opens dark and animalic, with a rawness that can surprise anyone expecting perfume. Give it half an hour and it turns warm, sweet, leathery and deeply resinous, and it stays that way for the rest of the day. Wearers who love it describe nothing else coming close. If you are new to pure oud and want something gentler, our Cambodian oud is the sweeter, friendlier introduction, and the wider oud attar range covers everyday blends. Hindi oud is where you arrive once you already know you love oud.

Oud oil or oud wood?

People searching for agarwood price in Pakistan, or for oud ki lakdi, are often looking for the wood rather than the oil, and the two are different purchases. Everything in this collection is distilled oil, worn on the skin. If you want oud hindi wood chips to burn at home instead, those are in our bakhoor wood collection, and prepared bakhoor blends are in bakhoor. The oil is far more concentrated and lasts far longer; the wood gives you the ritual of burning and scents a room rather than a person.

Wearing pure Indian oud

One touch is genuinely enough. Use the glass rod on a single pulse point, let it dry without rubbing, and give it time before judging it, because Hindi oud in the first five minutes is not Hindi oud in the second hour. It carries through a full day, lingers on fabric for longer, and is best kept for evenings, weddings and Eid rather than the office. Store it upright and sealed away from light, and it will keep for decades. If anything it will be better in ten years than it is today.
