What makes an attar French?

The style, not the origin. Traditional attars are built on oud, musk, amber and rose, and they are deep, warm and slow. French perfumery works differently: citrus and aquatic notes at the top, clean florals through the middle, and a light woody or powdery base. A French attar takes that structure and delivers it as an oil, so you get the freshness of a European scent with the longevity and the alcohol-free composition of an attar. For most people it is the easiest kind of attar to wear to work.

How the range breaks down

Eleven oils, and they divide fairly neatly by when you would wear them:

French attar for men, and for everyone else

Some of these are marketed to men and read that way, particularly Hunk and Secret for Men's. Most are not gendered at all. Office, Night Rush, Saturday Night, Memories and Wedding are worn by men and women in roughly equal numbers, and a fresh citrus-aquatic scent is one of the few things almost nobody dislikes. Most of this collection is Rs.1,500 for 3 ml, Rs.2,500 for 6 ml and Rs.4,500 for 12 ml, which makes it the most affordable part of our range. Wedding and Memories sit slightly above that, and Hunk runs from Rs.3,500 up to Rs.14,500 for the largest bottle. A 3 ml at this price is a genuine purchase rather than a sample, and because you apply an oil by the drop rather than by the spray, a 12 ml lasts considerably longer than a 12 ml of anything alcohol-based would.

Why an oil rather than a spray

An alcohol spray pushes scent outward quickly and then thins; the alcohol carries it and then evaporates. An oil stays on the skin and releases slowly, so a French attar behaves like a European fragrance in character but lasts more like a traditional one. It also means no alcohol, which matters for prayer and for anyone whose skin reacts to sprays.
